The Neanderthal Trails

The program "The Neanderthal trails“ and/or geological heritage was created with the aim of networking cultural tourism destinations and locations of natural wonders in northwestern Croatia which include content related to palaeontological and geological heritage. It includes the following destinations: Museum of Krapina Neanderthals , Vindija cave, Veternica cave, the locality of Gaveznica, and fossil remains of Radoboja.

One of the specific objectives of joint activities between these destinations is to join existing sites where Neanderthal remains have been found ( Krapina, Vindija, Velika pećina, Veternica) with other interesting localities (Gaveznica- Kameni vrh, Radoboj, Rudnik Zrinski) in northwestern Croatia and put them into the tourism offer that would help the development of the whole region.

In the future these Croatian destinations could be included in European cultural routes of similar content.
