„JUNIOR RANGER TEAM“

Program description:
Introduction and preparation for the playroom " JUNIOR RANGER TEAM “ – explanation of what is Junior ranger team, what is necessary if going into nature, rules of behavior in nature, and information about protected areas. Students then learn the basics of orientation in nature, how to use a map and compass.
The field: Miroslavec - Queen's Well.
Presentation of amphibians and reptiles in the Nature Park Medvednica. The program includes research, and is achieved by creating a joint project. Students are divided into 4 groups, each of which receives a project, and the groups can vary depending of the estimated time. Project tasks include the development of knowledge and skills in the following subjects: nature, mathematics, Croatian language, art and technical (for higher classes). The program includes the development of basic competencies of students through curricular topics. Efficiency of the development of intercompetence of students is higher when they, except in some subjects, incorporate, establish joint projects or modules. As a product of this research project, the children will make a poster with the main features of the Queen's well.
After completion of the project task, students go to Medvedgrad. The tour of Medvedgrad includes an explanation of the history and structure of the town, the legend of the Black Queen, a visit to the South tower with a view of the entire city, surrounding areas and Medvednica, projection of a movie about the Park in Large Palas and a tour of the Altar of the homeland.

Set: The program includes working papers and a backpack with supplies for field work for each student. These need to be returned to the manager upon completion of the program. In this program students will also receive a booklet: „Amphibians and reptiles in Nature Park Medvednica“. The booklet contains information about all the amphibians and reptiles that appear on Medvednica and can be used to identify species. In addition each participant receives a diploma „Junior ranger team“ with his/her name.

Important note! This program requires wearing sports shoes or hiking boots.

How to get there: From center to Mihaljevac, then left over Mlinovi to Šestine, beside Šestine cemetery there is a parking lot that includes bus parking.

Possibility to make lunch arrangements : On Medvedgrad there is a restaurant: “Medvedgradski podrum” („Medvedgrad's cellar“) in which it is possible to arrange a lunch. Working hours are12 – 8 p.m. (or in case of need). Telephone number: 01/4556226, 091/2531846
