CLIMBERS' LODGINGS

Climbers' lodging «Kameni svati»

Lodging is located on a meadow in the vicinity of picturesque dolomite rocks which remind of wedding suite turned into stone, and the very peak (489 m). Mountaineering society “Susegrad” has built it in 1982. Close by is a ruin of an object from 1938 (Kolarić's house) which used to be an inn.

Climbers' lodging «Lojzekov izvor»

Lodging is located in an area called Podrtine on elevation of 400 m. Next to the lodging is a drinking water spring which Alojz Lažec from Podgore renovated, so it was named Lojzek's spring after him. The house was built by MS Stubičan in 1979.

Climbers' lodging in Vugrovec

Workers of Zagreb 's post office built it in 1954. Mountaineers can hike over Medvednica, reach Lipa and come down to Vugrovec, or the other way around, from Vugrovec to Lipa and hike in other directions.

Climbers' lodging «Glavica»

Climbers' lodging “Glavica” is located 30 min. from Gornji Stenjevec or from Ponikve meadow, on elevation of 420 m. In itself it is a monument of public workers' movement because Zagreb 's workers, mostly members of MS «Prijatelj prirode», have voluntarily built it in 1936. Many of them were members of the Resistance during II World War.

Climbers' lodging «Grafičar»

In 1954 mountaineering society “Grafičar” built mountain house on Rudarsko sedlo underneath “Red cross home” on Malo Sljeme. It is located on elevation of 864 m in the lee-side, surrounded with thick forest, next to a clearing for rest and recreation.

Climbers' lodging «Lipa»

Lodging is located on elevation of 709 m. CMS "Lipa" Sesvete built it in 1967. Next to the lodging a steel pyramid 8 m high is located, which was placed in 1970, from which one can enjoy a beautiful landscape of Zagorje and Posavina. Below the lodging is a chapel.

Climbers' lodging at Puntijarka

Climbers' lodging “Ivan Pačkovski” is located on elevation of 957 m. The building begun in 1949 with the purpose of building a students recuperation place, and was finished by mountaineering society “Zagreb” in 1954, and named it after their late president and initiator of works Mr. Ivan Pačkovski. The lodging is located beneath the Puntijarka peak next to a large clearing with benches for rest and recreation of hikers.

Climbers' lodging «Risnjak»

In 1955, on a forest clearing near Pongrač forest house, on an elevation of 700 m, mountaineering society “Risnjak” built its mountain house. Surrounding the house is a big clearing suitable for rest with a beautiful view of Zagreb . Mountain house can be reached by car following a spur of Sljeme road.

Climbers' lodging «Runolist»

Climbers' lodging “Runolist” is located on elevation of 830 m, and was built in 1936 by mountaineering society “Runolist”. It is located on the southern slopes of the central part of Medvednica, in the midst of a thick forest, in the vicinity of Sljeme road. Near the home, in a 10 minute walk, one can reach a spring beneath a rock called Foresters grave, from where there is another 10 minute steep climb to the climbers' lodging on Puntijarka.

Rauch's forestry

It is located on elevation of 875 m, and can be reached by a one hour leisure walk on the very crest of Medvednica. From the clearing in front of the house where benches are located, one can enjoy a beautiful view of Croatian zagorje and Slovenian hills.

Red Cross home (closed type)

Red Cross home is located on the top of Malo Sljeme (959 m). The home consists of two parts – the main building constructed in 1932 and the newer part. In 1984 the object was renovated and additional parts were constructed according to preliminary design by architect Andrija Mutnjaković. It has 64 beds and dining room for 100 people, and is mostly used for School in nature. St. Franjo chapel is located in home's garden, as well as a bronze sculpture of a bear and a fountain.

Hotel «Zvonimir» at Hunjka

In front of the hotel is a big clearing with benches where visitors and hotel guests can rest. The hotel was constructed by Zagreb city craftsmen. It was named "Hunjka" (stokavian "humka") after a rath that used to stand here and was a boundary point of three forests Kulmer's, Rauch's and Kaptol's.

Hotel «Tomislavov dom»

Hotel “Tomislavov dom” is located on a 5 minute walking distance from cable-way. The elevation is 1006 m. It is a masterpiece of our and global architecture of the 30's of the last century. It is a work of architect Stjepan Planić. It was built in 1935, and conceived as a Y-layout object, in these parts first object built in that shape. With its form the object is adapted to the area, and the materials (green shiest, wood) follow the sequence of natural environment, giving it new value, so Plančić's “Tomislavov dom” is today seen as a work of modern architecture of the highest global value. Throughout the history it was destroyed in fires a couple of times, and today it functions as a hotel.

CATERING ESTABLISHMENTS

Board and lodging “Medvednica”

It is located on elevation of 960 m, 15 minutes by foot northwest of the cable-way. It was built in 1939 as CL “Poštanska štedionica”, and after the II World War it was Union's rest home, than an Eye clinic ward of CHC “Rebro”, and than again Union's rest home. For a while it was used for military training. Board and lodging has 28 rooms wit a total of 100 beds, conference halls and classrooms, which makes it especially attractive for organized children visits.

Sawmill Bliznec

Sawmill was built in 1898, bellow the first sharp curve of Sljeme road, where steep rise up the hill begins, next to former towns toll-house, which was renovated a couple of times, until it was ruined during the II World War. Forestry Zagreb renovated it in 1992 in a form of a small museum, and the surrounding is a resting place for play and study. There is a catering establishment, as well.

FORESTRY

Forestry Oštrica

Forestry is located on Oštrica meadow in the vicinity of French mines, on the elevation of 720 m. It is in the ownership of “Forestry Zagreb ». It doesn't offer any tourist-catering services.

Meadow Gorščica with forestry

Gorščica meadow is on the elevation of 740 m. That is a larger mountain meadow with forestry. In the vicinity is peak Sljemenski Oštrc elevation 743 m. Gorščica is a key point for trails to Hunjka and Sljeme, as well as mountain houses “Lipa” and “Vugrovec”. On the meadow used to be old capitulary forestry Gorščica which was destroyed in a fire. Recently “Forestry Zagreb” renovated the burned down forestry on the same location. It doesn't offer any tourist-catering services.

Throughout the area of nature park operates Croatian mountaineer association as a roof Croatian mountaineering organization. The association brings together all mountaineering societies in Croatia, takes care of mountain houses and trails, publishes a magazine “Croatian mountaineer”, mountaineering literature, organizes expert schools and courses.
