Chapel of Mary of the Snows

One of the most important stations on the pilgrim’s way towards Marija Bistrica is the Chapel of Mary of the Snows built in 1829, thanks to the efforts of Pastor Ignacije Ročić, with the selfless help of Čučerje parishioners. This charming gothic chapel is situated below the Stražnjec top (621 m), near a cave with a fresh water source, where many pilgrims come to get refreshment on their way to Marija Bistrica in the hot summer days. The chapel was totally refurbished in 1957 when painter Ivan Tomljanović painted its interior with murals.

If you wish to visit this chapel, go to the last bust station in Gornje Čučerje and take the marked trail No. 29 (about one hour of walking).
